BIO
Enrique Lara is an award-winning musician, music producer, and educator with over 21 years of experience. Born in Hamburg, Germany, and raised in Bolivia, Enrique is fluent in German, Spanish, and English. He is currently based in Los Angeles, where he works as a session drummer and producer.
Enrique began playing drums at the age of six, using his father's electric drum kit to practice along with favorite albums like Help! by The Beatles and Balance by Van Halen. By age 12, he started formal drum lessons and, by 15, was performing professionally with local jazz bands.
These formative years in the jazz scene gave Enrique invaluable real-world experience, eventually leading to collaborate with renowned Bolivian folk artist Manuel Monroy Chazarreta. During one of these performances, Bolivian rock icon Rodrigo Villegas took notice of his drumming and later invited him to join one of Bolivia's biggest bands, Llegas. In 2004, Enrique contributed to Llegas's sixth album, Superjuguetes, which won awards in 18 categories at the 2004 Rock & Bol Awards. The band also toured nationally and performed at the international music festival, FestiMusic Paceña. After graduating high school that same year, Enrique moved to the United States to continue his studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston, focusing on Performance and Music Business & Management.
After his time at Berklee, Enrique relocated to Los Angeles. He has performed, toured and recorded with artists such as Alan Palomo (frontman of Neon Indian) on his 2023 World of Hassle tour, American Idol finalist Casey Abrams, RIVVRS, Latin Grammy award winner’s Lucky Diaz & Family Jam Band, Carlos Santana’s nephew Adam Lasher, and Latin Pop legend Amanda Miguel.
As a producer, Enrique’s work on Evelyn Cools' Misfit Paradise EP and Wilder Mind EP has gained international recognition, including chart-topping success in Belgium. His production credits also include Ghost Lion’s album Nuclear Island.
Enrique is also a dedicated educator, serving as Lead Instructor and Team Manager at SoundLife Music Academy, where he mentors aspiring musicians, teaches various instruments, and directs student bands for showcases and summer workshops.
